Choice Chamber: An Interesting Application of Web 2.0

I just found out about a game that is being sold through Humble Bundle. Humble Bundle is a group of computer games sold. The price is determined by buyer. The lowest tier starts at $1. Some of the proceeds go to Humble Bundle, some go to charity, and some go to the developer. The user can decide how much they pay and where their money goes. It is an interesting business model.

In this week's Humble Bundle, there is a game I had previous never heard of. It is called "Choice Chamber." Here is the trailer for it:

The game's graphics are pretty simple. It is a retro-inspired side-scrolling platformer. What makes it interesting is that the game is meant for online streaming. The player live streams himself playing the game. The viewers are prompted at various times to make decisions that impact the player. The game is procedurally-generated based the input from the audience.

I did a search to find players playing the game live. Twitch listed 12 at this very moment. It is a very different setup for a game. The line between observer and participant is blurred.
